Season 8, Episode 1: New Order part 1

A quick recap of previous events opens “New Order” after which the story continues. Dr. Weir, now head of SGC, is currently negotiating disputes over the Ancients’ outpost on Antarctica with other nations which have knowledge of the Stargate. Until the dispute is over, the Stargate is forbidden to be used, much to SG-1’s dismay. They are eager to contact the Asgard to cure Jack, but Dr. Weir refuses. SG-1 is desperate and Samantha somehow manages to soften up Dr. Weir to allow the mission, but Daniel is to stay behind, just Teal’c and Samantha are permitted to go. While the two of them begin the mission, Daniel stays behind to help Dr. Weir deal with the System Lords who are interested in the Ancients’ weapon which destroyed Anubis.

Season 8, Episode 2: New Order part 2

The Asgard ambush of the Replicators spaceship managed to succeed, but only partially. It was destroyed, but a rain of Replicator blocks fell down to the Asgard planet below. The Asgard are unable to evacuate the planet, since there are countless stored minds without bodies, which they cannot abandon. Thor and Teal’c return to Earth in order to seek help. Meanwhile at the SGC, Weir imprisons the System Lords, who in revolt set a mothership toward Earth in order to test our defenses. An unexpected event happens, Ba’al actually destroying the mothership before it arrived. As Daniel brings that news to the System Lords, Thor beams him up the ship. Thor presumes that Jack might be the key to defeating the Replicators. At the same time, we see Samantha is a prisoner of the Fifth, the Replicator, in a virtual reality.

Season 8, Episode 3: Lockdown

Samantha and Daniel watch from the SGC a Russian cosmonaut in Earth’s orbit as he is adjusting an international space station to avoid a part of debris which was left after the fight with Anubis. The debris is avoided, but transmission with the station has been lost and we see a smoke-like figure enter it. Later, Colonel Alexei Vaselov comes to the SGC and goes to talk to General O’Neil. He is eager to join SG-1, but Jack insists that he won’t be coming anywhere near the gate until he receives proper training. Once Daniel hears that the new Colonel arrived, he goes to talk to him, but Vaselov collapses during their conversation. When he wakes up he has no memory of how he got to SGC and has a lot of lesions. Later, Daniel is due to depart through the Stargate with a number of soldiers, but is stopped since the doctor advises that everyone who was in contact with Vaselov should stay. Once the gate is shut down, Daniel gets a panic attack and attacks a soldier and shoots two more, demanding for the gate to be turned on. Teal’c and Jack manage to neutralize him and soon Jack orders a complete lockdown of SGC.

Season 8, Episode 4: Zero Hour

A recap of events concerning Ba’al and the rest of the System Lords opens this episode. After that we see Jack at the SGC and Sergeant Walter, five days before “zero hour”. Jack is introduced to Mark Gilmore, his new administrative aid. He seems like a friendly man, but once he is left alone in his office and makes a phone call, it seems that he has a secret agenda in the SGC. Later, SG-1 comes for briefing, reporting that they found coordinates to a planet belonging to Anubis, which Ba’al still hasn’t discovered yet. There is a base on the planet and SG-1 wish to investigate, but Jack delays the mission until SG-3 returns from a mission to provide backup. They become interrupted by an incoming wormhole, since alien delegates are coming for trade negotiations. And after that, Jack goes to visit Dr. Lee and an amazing off-world alien life specimen…a plant.

Season 4, Episode 5: Icon

The opening scene shows Daniel laying in a bed in a farmhouse, a woman named Leda sitting by his side. She removes bondages from his face and we see that he has some very bad injuries. At first he doesn’t remember what happened, but begins to recall that many people died and that it all wouldn’t happen “if we hadn’t come here”. After that we see a flashback to three months earlier when SG-1 arrived to the planet Kalydon. They are being greeted by the Rand Protectorate, one of the three nations which are fighting against each other, the other two being The Caledonian Federation and one religious faction within the ranks of the Protectorate led by a man named Soren. Back on Earth, two months ago, SG-1 figures out how much these factions fight each other and how much the arrival of the team sparked flames of war, so Daniel is sent to try and make peace. Eventually, he is injured and the SGC has no clue whether he is alive or not.

Season 8, Episode 6: Avatar

There is an alarm going through the SGC as one of the drones of Anubis breached the Stargate and is killing soldiers with ease. Teal’c and Jack also try to stop to the drone, Jack being shot down and Teal’c managing to strike the death blow. Seconds later, we see that this was all an experiment, as Teal’c wakes up in a virtual reality chair which is made based on the technology acquired from the episode “The Gamekeeper”. Teal’c says the simulation is not quite realistic and Dr. Lee suggests that Teal’c continues to aid the program by helping the very program learn from him. During the first experiment, he quickly dies and the chair sends a burst of pain through his body. The scene is restarted, but the amount of soldiers begins to increase making it all tougher, ultimately stressing Teal’c and threatening to actually kill him.

Season 8, Episode 7: Affinity

Teal’c saves a dude from being beaten up after a traffic incident, after which we see that Teal’c finally moves into his apartment off-base and that this is his new neighborhood. Then we see Colonel Kendrick arriving to Jack’s office, claiming that there has been more incidents connected to Teal’c and his movement off-base and that it needs to stop. Later Daniel goes to visit him and sends him the warning about his behavior, but the conversation is disrupted by Krista, Teal’c’s neighbor. In the meantime, Pete is transferred to Colorado Springs and he later asks Samantha to marry him, though she wants to think about it. Meanwhile, Teal’c gets involved more and more with Krista, being constantly under surveillance though not being aware of it. It escalates to the point where Teal’c ends up being charged for murder.

Season 8, Episode 8: Covenant

A rich industrialist named Alec Colson summons a press conference, where he talks about a presumed powerful meteor strike which occurred five months ago. He believes it to be the work of aliens and he demands that the governments of the world reveal the truth in twenty four hours or else he will do it instead. It seems that Colson was on the F302 program where he worked with Samantha, though he wasn’t aware of its true purpose and other important details, but now it would appear that he put all the pieces together. Thus, Samantha is sent by Jack to try and make a deal with him.

Season 8, Episode 9: Sacrifices

Daniel and Jack are seen at the SGC as Daniel tries to explain to him what is currently going on between the rebel Jaffa, Ishta’s group, Moloch and Ba’al. Teal’c and Bra’tac soon arrive through the Stargate, Teal’c not being of the best mood. Bra’tac explains that it is Rya’c who is the problem, since he has plans to marry a Jaffa woman from the Haktyl and Teal’c doesn’t think she is fit for him. He believes Rya’c is too young to know what love is and what it can do to a warriors resolve. Ishta later arrives through the gate with news that she suspects that Haktyl may be compromised. There was to be a meeting with a priestess from Moloch’s temple, but she failed to appear. Moloch might be aware of their world and an evacuation must be swift. Until they find a world suitable for Ishta’s people, they will be relocated to Earth. While Samantha is researching for a possible planet, Ishta goes to a meeting with Haktyl warriors to discuss an uprising. Moloch finds out about the negotiations taking place and captures her.

Season 8, Episode 10: Endgame

“Endgame” is one of those episodes which managed to make me go “wow” several times. We have two separate storylines implemented inside and both are unbelievably intriguing. On one side we have the search for the Stargate which ultimately turns into an investigation on ex-NID, the Trust faction. The team is once again led into Area 51 and there they witness how long the fingers of the Trust are and how deep they go in various other organizations and government bodies. Luckily they realize that Bricksdale is secretly working for the Trust and is followed, leading the team to Hoskins, previously seen in the “Affinity” episode. The scene where they chase Hoskins was so cool, quite tense and action packed.
